Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology Capstone Symposium

A 7.5 foot blimp will be flying around the room, controlled by an android smart phone. Another smart phone will be controlling a blast of sounds created by an analog tube guitar effects module. These are just two of the student projects on display at the Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology Capstone Symposium at Camosun's Interurban campus, Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
Important notice: Job action set for 10:45 – 1:15 this Friday

Camosun support workers (CUPE 2081) have indicated that job action will be occurring for a brief time this upcoming Friday, November 30. However, the action will be directed at a local MLA office and will not happen on campus. As there will be no pickets on campus, this will result in NO disruption of classes but could impact most services. As a result College services may be limited or closed between 10:45am and 1:15pm. The College regrets any inconvenience this may cause.

You may be aware that the College's Support staff union (CUPE Local 2081) recently voted in favour of strike action. CUPE has served the college with strike notice and is in a legal position to engage in job action as early as next week.

Camosun College business students place first in CMA BC case competition

Four Camosun business students took the top prize at the sixth annual Certified Management Accountants Society of BC case competition held at SFU earlier this month. Competing against 30 other teams of first- and second-year students from BC's universities and colleges, the Camosun team demonstrated exceptional management skills by analyzing a fictional business case of Sarah's Antiques.
Camosun's Employment Skills Access program provides hope and new job prospects

Camosun College will receive up to $943,000 in Employment Skills Access funding to train eligible clients in six targeted job-readiness programs. Over $611,000 has been directly awarded to Camosun and additional funding will come through partnerships with Vancouver Island University, North Island College and Capilano University.

Seventeen deserving Camosun College students each received a $5,000 Ike Barber BC Transfer Scholarship recognizing their excellent academic achievement and community service. The Irving K. Barber Scholarship Society, named for the BC philanthropist and founder of Slocan Forest Products Ltd., encourages students to start their post-secondary studies at a local public institution like Camosun College, then transfer to a degree-granting institution in BC to complete their four-year bachelor's degree.
