The Camosun College Chargers men’s basketball team is excited to welcome several fresh new faces to the program following a significant turnover of graduating players from the 2016-17 season. Gone from last year’s fold is fourth-year guard Lucas Derksen, fifth-year forwards AJ Beaudry, Ted Neilson and Rulon Schmidt and fifth-year guard Evan Woodson who leaves the league as the sixth highest scorer in the history of the PACWEST.

The 2017-18 season marks the beginning of a brand new era for Chargers women’s basketball with the recent addition of former University of British Columbia Thunderbirds student-athlete and assistant coach Cait Haggarty as Head Coach of the program. Despite having just a few months to recruit this season’s squad, Coach Haggarty has managed to put together an exciting mix of returnees and newcomers who eagerly signed up for the team.

Following a solid performance at the Camosun Invitational last weeeknd, the Chargers men’s golf team is gearing up for a shot at the medals as the 2017 PACWEST season wraps up this weekend at the Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, October 7-8. Hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley, the fourth and final tournament of the PACWEST season will determine this year’s champions and the top two teams that will qualify for the PING CCAA National Championships (October 17-20) hosted by Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario.

The Capilano Blues punched their ticket to the semi-final with an impressive 76-69 victory over the Camosun Chargers men. Meanwhile, just when the Camosun Chargers women thought a 34 point lead was safe, the Quest Kermodes had other ideas and made the quarterfinal a memorable one, but the lead was just too much and the Chargers punched their ticket to the semis with an 88-77 victory.
