At the conclusion of first half of the PACWEST basketball and volleyball season, the Chargers student-athletes are turning their focus to exams and breaking over the holidays prior to preparing for the New Year ahead.

Another great weekend of high intensity basketball action rocked the boards at PISE as the Chargers played host to the Capilano Blues and Douglas College Royals, November 17 & 18.

With only one week remaining in the first half of the PACWEST season, the Camosun College Chargers volleyball teams are finding their groove and preparing to play their final matches of the Fall semester in Victoria.

The Chargers men’s and women’s basketball teams provided fans with plenty to cheer about last week in their season opener against the VIU Mariners in Nanaimo (Thur, Nov 9) and in their home opener the following Saturday versus the Columbia Bible College Bearcats.

The Camosun College Chargers men’s basketball team is excited to welcome several fresh new faces to the program following a significant turnover of graduating players from the 2016-17 season. Gone from last year’s fold is fourth-year guard Lucas Derksen, fifth-year forwards AJ Beaudry, Ted Neilson and Rulon Schmidt and fifth-year guard Evan Woodson who leaves the league as the sixth highest scorer in the history of the PACWEST.  

The 2017-18 season marks the beginning of a brand new era for Chargers women’s basketball with the recent addition of former University of British Columbia Thunderbirds student-athlete and assistant coach Cait Haggarty as Head Coach of the program. Despite having just a few months to recruit this season’s squad, Coach Haggarty has managed to put together an exciting mix of returnees and newcomers who eagerly signed up for the team.

It wasn’t the 3-peat championship finish fans had hoped for, but the Camosun College Chargers Men’s Golf team pulled through a tough season to bring home bronze and the program’s 15th PACWEST podium finish.

Following an epic finish as the 2018 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) silver medalists, the Camosun Chargers women’s volleyball team is gearing up for a brand new season of PACWEST and CCAA competition.

The Camosun Chargers men’s volleyball team is setting up for one of their biggest seasons yet with a crew of exciting new players and the promise of a berth to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Men’s Volleyball Championship as Camosun plays host to the nation’s best March 8-10, 2018.

Thirty teams are set to gather this weekend at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) and St. Margaret’s School to compete in the 2017 Camosun College Chargers Senior Girls’ High School Volleyball Tournament with action beginning today at 1:00pm.

Following a solid performance at the Camosun Invitational last weeeknd, the Chargers men’s golf team is gearing up for a shot at the medals as the 2017 PACWEST season wraps up this weekend at the Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, October 7-8. Hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley, the fourth and final tournament of the PACWEST season will determine this year’s champions and the top two teams that will qualify for the PING CCAA National Championships (October 17-20) hosted by Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario.

The Camosun Chargers men’s golf team is preparing for a big weekend of competition as the college hosts the third of four PACWEST tournaments this weekend at the Chargers home course at Highland Pacific.

The Seaquam Seahawks senior boy’s volleyball squad won their first tournament of the season this weekend at the Chargers Fall Classic (September 22-23) where fifteen teams gathered for two days of competition at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence and Pacific Christian School in a battle for the 2017 title.

It was a tough first week for the Camosun Chargers men’s golf team as the two-time reigning champs tackled the links and a talented field of PACWEST competitors at the Okanagan Golf and Country Club in Kelowna, September 16-17.

The deadline has been extended for the Dr. Liz Ashton High Performance Sport Award. This award recognizes the athletic achievements of a student entering a Centre for Sport & Exercise Education (CSEE) program.

While golf enthusiasts in Victoria get set for this week’s Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship, the Camosun College Chargers men’s golf team will swing into action this weekend at the UBC-Okanagan Invitational in Kelowna as the PACWEST season begins. The two-time reigning champion Chargers have a core of veterans returning to the program and are pleased to welcome four new recruits as the squad breaks ground at Highland Pacific, the Chargers new home course.

The Camosun College Chargers men’s golf team will open their 2017 golf season with a brand new home at one of Vancouver Island’s most welcoming and scenic championship golf courses—Highland Pacific Golf.

Student-athletes, coaches and supporters of the Camosun College Chargers gathered to recognize the achievements of the College's student-athletes at Camosun's 20th Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony, Thursday, April 10th at the Harbour Towers Hotel. Fourth-year outside hitter Michelle Zygmunt of the Camosun Chargers women’s volleyball program team earned the prestigious President’s Cup for her outstanding academic and athletic achievements over the 2016-17 season.

Today, Camosun welcomes four of Coach Parkinson’s newest recruits (three of whom are based in Victoria) who will be suiting up for the Chargers this Fall: Mack Mravnic (Winnipeg, MB), Lorenz Vogel (Claremont), Markeith Thonger (Reynolds) and Dale MacDonell (Pacific Christian).

The Camosun College Chargers women’s volleyball team made program history this past weekend, earning its highest Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) National Championship finish!

Catch the 3-peat PACWEST champion Camosun Chargers go for gold at the CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship hosted by Fanshawe College, London, ON March 9-11. The Chargers hit the court Thursday, March 9 at 3pm EST vs the Medicine Hat Rattlers.

Former Chargers women’s volleyball teammates Hilary Graham and Erika Sheen have shared many rewarding experiences in their five years as student-athletes.

After months of planning and organization, action is about to get underway this week as Camosun hosts the 2017 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence on Interurban campus.

The Capilano Blues punched their ticket to the semi-final with an impressive 76-69 victory over the Camosun Chargers men. Meanwhile, just when the Camosun Chargers women thought a 34 point lead was safe, the Quest Kermodes had other ideas and made the quarterfinal a memorable one, but the lead was just too much and the Chargers punched their ticket to the semis with an 88-77 victory.

Camosun proudly congratulates two student-athletes from the Chargers women’s basketball program who were named today as recipients of the 2017 PACWEST conference awards. The 2017 PACWEST Provincial Basketball Championships begin tomorrow, running March 2-4 at Quest University in Squamish.

They say things are sweeter in threes. The Camosun Chargers can attest to that winning their third straight PACWEST title after a four set win over the top ranked VIU Mariners on Saturday night at the PACWEST championship tournament.

While the excitement of Camosun College hosting back-to-back national volleyball championships is the current buzz amongst volleyball enthusiasts across the nation, the two-time defending PACWEST Champion Chargers men’s volleyball team is focused on preparing for their final weekend of regular season competition and going for their third consecutive gold medal at the upcoming Provincial playoffs hosted by Vancouver Island University, February 23-25.

In an announcement made earlier today by the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Camosun College of the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) has been awarded the 2018 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship. The Championship will be held in Victoria, BC, March 7-10, 2018.

Camosun College welcomes the community to join in the excitement as preparations get underway for the 2017 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Volleyball National Championship, March 8-11. The championship will feature the top eight teams in the country and will be Camosun’s first time hosting an indoor national event.
