The Camosun Chargers volleyball teams closed the first half of the PACWEST season with an exciting sweep over the UFV Cascades in their November 28-29 road series weekend.  While the women went the distance in both contests to land 10-2 (#2) in the mid-season standings, the men blasted by their opponents in straight sets to sit 9-3 (#3). Despite having different plans for the break, both teams have their sights set on the PACWEST Provincial Volleyball Championships which will be hosted by Camosun College, February 26-28, 2015.

The first half of the 2014-15 PACWEST season has gone down as the fastest ever in Chargers history with a mere seven games played since Camosun’s basketball home opener on Halloween night. While 2014 has proven to be a battle of ups and downs for the men’s and women’s teams, the Chargers swept their November 21 & 22 road games against Kwantlen and CBC, closing the mid-season with four big wins to boost them into the New Year.

The Camosun College Chargers volleyball teams split their weekend series against the Capilano Blues on November 21st  and 22nd with the women collecting their first pair of losses and the men producing a sweep to advance to #3 in the PACWEST standings.

It was a bitter sweet weekend for the Camosun Chargers basketball teams who split their home openers against the CapU blues and Quest Kermodes , November 21 & 22nd. Both sets of games attracted big crowds to the Chargers’ home court at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence with fan support reaching a maximum to accompany the fast-running hoops action.

Having successfully battled the after-effects of an almost paralyzing two-day bus trip to Cranbrook, the Camosun Chargers volleyball teams swept their series with the College of the Rockies Avalanche on the November 7-8 weekend, adding two matches apiece to their collection of wins.

The Camosun Chargers basketball teams produced mixed results this weekend as they tackled Week 2 of PACWEST play against the Langara College Falcons and Douglas College Royals on the Mainland.

The Camosun Chargers mens’ and women’s basketball teams fell short in their PACWEST season openers last Thursday with both teams giving way to the VIU Mariners in Nanaimo.

Megan Beckett (Victoria, BC) put up 29 points in 6 sets of action as the Camosun College Chargers women’s volleyball team swept their third weekend of PACWEST league play and moved to 6-0 on the season. Megan is in her first year of University Transfer studies at Camosun College.

The Camosun Chargers women’s volleyball team secured their second consecutive sweep of the season in New Westminster last weekend with their back to back victories over the Douglas College Royals. The Chargers remain undefeated heading into Week 3 of PACWEST competition and are tied for first place with the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades.

The Camosun College Chargers Basketball teams are ready and raring to go as the PACWEST hoops season gets underway on the Island this week.

The rivalry between Camosun and VIU spans over 20 years deep and on Friday night, in front of a roaring crowd of fans that ran near 400, the Chargers women’s volleyball team opened the 2014-15 PACWEST season with a first-time ever win over the Mariners, ending their streak of defeats with the Island program and marking the beginning of a whole new era.

The Chargers made history on Friday at the 2014 PING CCAA Golf National Championships in Quebec City as veteran player Jarred Callbeck captured Camosun’s first-ever Men’s Individual National Championship title!

The Camosun College Chargers men’s and women’s volleyball teams open the 2014-15 PACWEST season with a fierce Island Rivalry matchup against the VIU Mariners this Friday at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE).

It was a fight to the finish this weekend between the PACWEST’s UBCO Heat and Camosun College Chargers, as the two squads battled the links at the Okanagan Golf Club to determine who would join the top ranked Fraser Valley Cascades to represent BC, next week at the CCAA PING National Golf Championships in Quebec City.

The 2014 Champions of the Camosun Chargers Senior Girls' Volleyball Tournament are the Timberline Wolves (Campbell River) after defeating South Delta in the final 2-1 (20-25, 25-21, 15-10). Riverside (Coquitlam) defeated Ladysmith 2-0 (25-20, 27-25) to finish third. Congratulations to all participating teams on a great weekend of volleyball!

Focused on holding the number two spot to qualify for the PING CCAA Nationals, the Camosun Chargers men’s golf team finished 12 strokes over the VIU Mariners at the Douglas College Invitational (Kings Links, Delta), September 27-28 to break last week’s tie and reclaim second place heading into the fourth and final event of the 2014 PACWEST Conference series.

The Camosun College Chargers women’s volleyball program hosts its annual Senior Girls’ High School Tournament this weekend at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence. The event has attracted over 20 teams from across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland and will showcase some of BC’s most promising up and coming talent.

Camosun College is pleased to announce that 15 Chargers student-athletes have been recognized by the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) as recipients of the 2013-2014 CCAA National Scholar Award.

Despite struggling through two tough rounds at the Morningstar Golf Course on the September 13-14 weekend, Island rivals, the Camosun College Chargers and VIU Mariners managed to slash the double digit advantage held by the number one UFV Cascades down to just five strokes in the PACWEST Men’s Golf cumulative standings.

Despite a strong performance and finishing under par at the 2014 PACWEST season opener in Surrey this past weekend, the Camosun Chargers men’s golf team made a second-place finish, 13 strokes off the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades who dominated the fairways and greens at the Northview Golf and Country Club.

Jarred Callbeck was, as they say, "locked in" this past weekend.

The decorated Charger standout followed his opening 5-under par 62 on Saturday with a 63 on Sunday winning the 36-hole tourney. The impressive result wasn't without a sweat, as Callbeck nailed an eight-foot birdie putt on the final hole to grasp victory by one stroke.

Student-athletes, coaches and supporters of the Camosun College Chargers gathered to recognize the achievements of the College's student-athletes at Camosun's 20th Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony, Thursday, April 10th at the Harbour Towers Hotel.

The Camosun Chargers men's and women's basketball teams have many reasons to celebrate as they head to the PACWEST Provincials in New Westminster this Thursday to Saturday. After a season that saw both teams make the playoffs, the PACWEST announced players on both teams have been awarded PACWEST All-Star and All-Rookie Team selections.

The Camosun Chargers men's and women's volleyball teams traveled to Capilano College (North Vancouver) last Thursday to Saturday for the Provincial Championships.

Aija Salvador is a third year guard from Victoria BC. In the final league game of the season, the Camosun Chargers played the VIU Mariners in yet another Island Rivalry. With the Mariners on a 20-0 undefeated streak, the odds were against the Chargers. Camosun had other ideas as they gave VIU its first defeat of the season.

The Camosun Chargers Athletics Department is pleased to announce that six student-athletes on the Chargers men's and women's volleyball teams were recognized as PACWEST All-stars this year.  

The Camosun Chargers swept past the VIU Mariners this weekend with straight set 3-0 victories on both nights. Charger setter Vitor Macedo was instrumental in the wins over the tough, up-Island rivals.

Alex Sadowski turned in another huge performance in Camosun's road sweep over the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades this past weekend.

Mariah Holmstrom led the Camosun Chargers in their return to PACWEST league play and a weekend split with the visiting Capilano Blues.

Beyond practicing new sets, cementing new systems, and interacting with new players, the biggest benefit of the Chargers annual Christmas Classic is an opportunity to play against new competition. From December 28th to 30th, seven teams from across Canada, and one from Washington State graced the hardwood of the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence.
