Camosun College is pleased to announce the appointment of John Boraas, a well-known and influential educator, to the position of Vice President Academic.
February 7, 2013
"John is a passionate and tireless advocate for the college," says Kathryn Laurin, President of Camosun College. "He brings a wealth of experience, expertise and energy to the VP Academic position, most notably in the area of inspiring non-traditional adult learners to realize their academic and career potential. His role in preparing the region to address the documented looming skills gap is critically important."
Before joining the College Executive Team, Boraas was the Dean of the School of Access for 12 years. He holds an MEd from the University of Victoria and is a candidate in the PhD program in Education at UBC. He has served as chair and member on numerous provincial committees as well as a board member on several community organizations including Literacy Victoria. Most recently he was awarded the Peter Gzowski National Award for his contributions to the area of adult literacy.
