Unique teaching facility with students working closely with certified professionals

Camosun College is celebrating the grand opening of the Athletic & Exercise Therapy (AET) Clinic on Friday, January 10 from 4:30 to 7pm in the Wilna Thomas Cultural Centre (Room 234) on Camosun's Lansdowne campus.  (map)

This unique teaching facility, part of Camosun's Centre for Sport and Exercise Education, utilizes senior students in the Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy program, who work closely with Certified Athletic Therapists CAT(C) and Certified Exercise Physiologists CSEP. The clinic is an integral part of the students' education, who upon graduation, may end up working in many of the local clinics.

The AET Clinic offers fee-per-service appointments in immediate care, reconditioning of musculoskeletal injuries, and health risk assessment associated with prevention and management of chronic disease. Patient care includes: sport and work injury diagnoses and treatment; exercise therapy including vital signs appraisal and consultation; chronic disease and obesity management; and exercise prescription and adherence including the assessment of activity readiness and individualized program creation and guidance.

The public is invited to come to the Wilna Thomas Cultural Centre on the Lansdowne campus to tour and learn more about what the AET Clinic offers the community.  There will be food and beverages as well as the chance to win some great prizes, including:
