Camosun College welcomes Ron Rice to the Board of Governors
September 4, 2013
Camosun College is pleased to announce the one-year appointment of Mr. Ron Rice to the Board of Governors, effective immediately.
"Mr. Rice brings a wide range of skills and experience that will benefit Camosun and our community of learners," says Board Chair Kyman Chan. "His strong connection to the Aboriginal community and long-standing leadership and organizational roles are key strengths that will serve us so well, and we are very fortunate to welcome him to the Board."
Mr. Rice is a member of Cowichan Tribes and he has lived in Victoria on and off for 25 years. His work in Japan, Korea, China and Hawaii taught him to consider the cherished value of his own culture in new and meaningful ways. He has worked with the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres since 1998 and is a strong supporter of the arts. He considers event planning to be a hobby but takes great pride in the many high-profile events and ceremonies he has planned, like the Opening Ceremonies for the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games.
