Camosun College receives two United Way Spirit Awards

Camosun College received two United Way Spirit Awards at the March 14 awards gala, and celebrated the collective community effort that raised more than $6M for causes that really matter—children’s wellness, ending poverty and building a strong and caring community.

The Outstanding Campaign Committee Award recognizes Camosun’s excellence in team spirit, commitment to their campaign and achievement of outstanding results in dollars and participation.

The Post-Secondary Challenge Award goes to a post-secondary institute with the largest percentage increase in overall campaign dollars and percentage increase in participation.

“It’s a privilege to help advance the cause of the United Way,” says Peter Lockie, Camosun’s Leadership Co-chair, and the college VP Administration and CFO. “We exceeded our goal by more than $3,000 and contributed more than $83,000 to the campaign. I’m very proud of our results.”

Camosun’s campaign chair Wendy Magahay says, “While the recognition is always nice, the awards confirm what we already know: Camosun is a community college in the truest sense of the word. Like our partners at the United Way all of us at the college work hard every day to change lives for people all across Greater Victoria. This campaign is just one more way we show that and I could not be prouder of this year’s team.”
