Senior culinary arts students provide gourmet dining experience and the best deal in town

Dinner at the ClassRoom Restaurant is more than just a meal, it's a unique dining experience. The ClassRoom Restaurant offers four-course gourmet dinners, prepared and served by senior students in Camosun's Professional Cook Training program. Besides enjoying a fabulous meal at a great price, guests have an opportunity to contribute to an exceptional learning experience for tomorrow's chefs.

In the competitive hospitality industry, the success of a restaurant depends on more than great food. Professional cooks need to understand how things work inside and outside the kitchen. For those students who advance into kitchen management or decide to open their own restaurant, this front-line experience is invaluable.

"We have an excellent program and highly qualified chef instructors who bring a wealth of experience to the classroom and lab kitchens," says Gilbert Noussitou, chair of Camosun's Culinary Arts program. "But the real-world experience that our students gain by working in the ClassRoom Restaurant is the icing on the cake. There simply is no substitute for the real thing."

For the 2010 fall season, ClassRoom Restaurant will be accepting reservations from 5:30–7:30pm, Tuesday through Friday, September 28 to December 3. Guests are invited to choose from a delectable selection of appetizers, soup/salads, entrees and dessert for only $29.95 per person (plus tax). A special gourmet buffet will be featured on Friday, November 19 for $32.95 per person.

The gourmet menus change each week and can be previewed at www.camosun.ca/dining.

The ClassRoom Restaurant is located in the Huber Hall Cook Training Centre at Camosun's Interurban campus, 4461 Interurban Road, Victoria. Because the ClassRoom Restaurant is small and intimate, reservations are strongly recommended; call 250-370-3775.
