ACP camera operator.Camosun's Applied Communication program (ACP) will be featured in an hour-long documentary this weekend on Shaw Cable Channel 11. "Town, Gown and Rhythm & Blues" is a behind the scenes look at a special concert featuring the Victoria High School Rhythm and Blues Band performing in Camosun's Gibson Auditorium.

The innovative project brought together students from secondary and post-secondary education: Vic Hi R&B band is a district-wide program for high school students who want to pursue a career in music; Camosun's ACP is a college program for students working towards a career in broadcasting and media.

"This was an opportunity for ACP students to work in a live real-world situation," says ACP chair Andy Bryce. "The documentary will not only feature footage of the band performing, but it also shows how much work goes into putting on one of these concert tapings."

Behind the scenes footage was shot by ACP graduates Robin Miller and Nick Parsons. "Both Nick and Robin volunteered hours of their time to shoot the footage," says Bryce. "That's the kind of connection ACP has with its grads – and it's one of many things that makes the program special."
