West Shore residents can attend Camosun without driving into town
January 14, 2010
Starting February 11, Camosun will offer English 150-English Composition at the WestShore Centre for Learning and Training. Classes will run Tuesdays and Thursday evenings, 6:30-8:20pm from February 11–April 22.
“Camosun is a community college, and our community definitely includes the West Shore,” says Maureen Niwa-Heinen, chair of Camosun’s English department. “This is the second time we’ve offered this course at this location.”
English 150 is one of the most popular and versatile courses offered by Camosun, because it is equivalent to first year university English and transfers into every BC university and college. It is a required course within many of Camosun’s diploma programs, such as Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Environmental Technology, Nursing, and Sport Management, just to name a few. As a prerequisite for many post-secondary courses, it opens academic doors in all areas of humanities, social sciences and degree programs.
“English 150 was very well received in the West Shore last year and that’s why we’re running the class again, says Niwa-Heinen. “It is wonderful to collaborate with the WestShore Centre for Learning and Training this way, and to save students the trouble of commuting.”
To register for the WestShore offering of English 150 please contact Camosun’s Enrolment Services at 250–370–3550. The course code is 2010W ENGL 150 032.
