It's business better than ever at awards ceremony

Camosun College’s School of Business congratulated student recipients at its annual awards ceremony Monday, November 23. Many donors attended the event and made presentations totalling more than $58,000 in financial prizes.
"We’re happy to report that in addition to our existing donors, many new donors contributed to awards in the School of Business this year," says Sandra Bitz, development officer with the Camosun College Foundation. "A record number of 88 students benefited."
A 66% increase in financial contributions over last year resulted in 57% more business students receiving awards at the November 23 event.

Special guests included Steve Parkhill, president and Chief Operating Officer of Rogers’ Chocolates Ltd. and member of the Camosun College Board of Governors. "We can’t thank our donors and supporters enough," says Parkhill. "I’ve only been in the city for three years and was immediately impressed to hear about the high regard in which Camosun and its students are held." Parkhill moved to Victoria in 2007 to take his position at Rogers’ Chocolates and was appointed to the Camosun College Board of Governors this year.
One of the 88 recipients, Adam Trevor, graduated earlier this month with a Bachelor in Business Administration, Marketing Communications Management major. Trevor received the Project Management Institute (PMI) Award of Excellence, a new award this year, worth $750.
"I would like to thank both the Project Management Institute and Camosun College for coming together to provide this award," says Trevor. "The generous donation and recognition from PMI is much appreciated and I feel truly honoured as it provides an excellent stepping stone as I move from academics into the professional world."
"Monday’s celebration wouldn’t have been the same if it weren’t for the thoughtful generosity of Camosun’s friends and supporters," says Susan Haddon, Executive Director of the Camosun College Foundation. "It’s the individuals, businesses, service clubs and professional associations in our community who believe in the college and our students that made it possible to generously recognize so many deserving students."
