Markham Rd. between Camosun College and the Vancouver Island Tech Park

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Camosun have pulled together faculty and students to design and build the "winning" soap box car for the upcoming Canary Soap Box Derby 2009. Camosun's School of Trades and Technology has partnered with Agresso, Vigil Health Solutions and Prototype Equipment Design to become "the Visionaries".

The Canary Derby provides an opportunity for Vancouver Island Companies to join forces with the Canary Foundation and BC Cancer Foundation to help support early detection of cancer research within BC. Each team designs, builds and races a soapbox car and organizes their own fundraising activities.

Last year Jeffrey Stephens (also known as "Captain Camosun", driver of the soapbox car) won the Community Impact Award at Camosun Celebrates 2008 for his and the Mechanical Engineering Department’s involvement with the Canary Derby. The Visionaries look forward to your financial support to help make a difference!
