Camosun College Board of Governors Chair Mr. Robin Adair is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Board member, Mr. Steve Parkhill, who was sworn in on February 23rd.
Parkhill, who moved to Victoria in 2007, was appointed through a recent Provincial Government Order in Council. Steve fills the vacancy left by Mr. Kim Hesketh. Kim departed at the end of December, after serving on the Board for close to seven years. He was Chair of the Board from September 2006 to September 2008.
Steve is currently the President & COO of Rogers’ Chocolates Ltd. Rogers’ has been manufacturing and retailing fine chocolate products in Victoria since 1885. Steve’s career in the food industry spans 28 years from a student factory worker to executive positions with several Canadian food companies including Schneider Foods and Maple Leaf Consumer Foods.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Science and Business degree, majoring in Physics, from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. New to Victoria, Steve hopes to build on his past community involvement in theater, Big Brothers and student mentoring.
“I am delighted to welcome Steve to the Camosun College Board,” said Chair Robin Adair. “His experience and expertise blend well with the range of skills already present, resulting in an energetic and dynamic Board to guide Camosun through the coming years.” Adair gratefully acknowledges outgoing board Chair Kim Hesketh. “We thank Kim for his tremendous contributions to the College and to this Board,” he concluded. “He will be missed.”
