A showcase of final projects by graduates of the Computer Systems Technology and Electronics & Computer Engineering Technology programs
10am-3pm, Monday, December 14, 2009
Executive Eurostar Hotel, 3020 Blanshard Street, Victoria
Despite the slow economy, Victoria’s high tech sector is high-performing to the tune of $1.95 BILLION in annual revenue. Camosun College is a significant partner of the local tech sector, each year producing well-trained, job-ready graduates.
On December 14, potential employers and the public are invited to meet some of those students at the semi-annual Capstone Symposium. Eight student teams will showcase their final projects, completing two and a half years of intense learning at Camosun College.
“The Capstone project gives our students the opportunity to match up their skills with local businesses and volunteer organizations who need their help,” says Saryta Schaerer, chair of Camosun’s computer science department. “The students meet with the clients, assess the problem, and then create a technological solution. The end results will be showcased at the Capstone Symposium.”
Camosun’s new president, Kathryn Laurin, will be the keynote speaker, addressing students, faculty and guests at 12:30pm.
There is no charge for admission, although guests are asked to pre-register online.
A networking lunch will be provided.
