CFL Hall of Fame inductee Dave Cutler headlines the Camosun College Chargers’ Second Annual “Tip-Off” Dinner Fundraiser at 5:30pm, Friday, September 19 at Camosun’s Interurban Campus.

Considered one of the greatest kickers in the history of professional football, Mr. Cutler played 16 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos during the 1970’s and 1980’s when the team won six Grey Cup championships, including a record five consecutive titles between 1978-1982. During his playing career he was a nine-time Canadian Football League scoring champion and when he retired, he held 26 league records, including the longest successful field goal and most career points. Most notably, Mr. Cutler eclipsed the National Football League’s George Blands as the all-time leading scorer in North American professional football with 2,237 points.

Upon his retirement from the game, Mr. Cutler moved his permanent residence to Victoria. After a seven year stint as a high school teacher and counselor, he turned his sights to working in media and marketing sales, in radio, television and newspapers. He currently works in sales and marketing for the local radio stations The Q! and The Zone.

Mr. Cutler has maintained a prominent role in volunteering with local groups to help improve the community where he lives. He sits or has sat on various Boards of Directors including YM/YWCA, Braefoot Community Association and the Native Friendship Centre. He has also served as a kicking coach for some of Victoria’s youth who dream of following his footsteps into a CFL career.

The Chargers Tip-Off Dinner Fundraiser starts at 5:30pm with a pre-dinner reception sponsored by the Vancouver Island Brewery and Food for Thought Catering. Guests will be treated to a buffet dinner, followed by Dave Cutler’s presentation and exciting live and silent auctions featuring incredible golf getaways, fun family and sports fan activity packages, prizes, raffles and more.

Tickets for the event are $150 per person. Corporate tables are available. All funds raised will help support student-athletes in the Chargers men’s and women’s basketball programs.

The Camosun College Chargers men’s and women’s basketball teams would like to thank the many generous sponsors of this event: The Times Colonist, Food for Thought Catering, Robbins Parking, South Vancouver Island Basketball Association, Thrifty Foods, Out of the Blue Designs, Pedersen’s Party Rentals, Vancouver Island Brewery, Wilson’s Transportation Ltd., and Dave Ruff of Unique Communications.
