Club Connection: winners of the Integrated Business Case Trophy |
The IBC forms a key part of the first term curriculum. Students in their first semester of Business Administration form teams in September, and then work together for the next 12 weeks on developing a business idea, applying skills learned in all their first semester business courses to plan, organize, lead, and manage their respective businesses.
The business plans are then presented and judged at the IBC Final Showcase. The judges were: Linda Cross, former faculty member and IBC Coordinator, Leelah Dawson, Associate Dean—School of Business, Lee Aitchison, Chair of the Hospitality and Tourism Dept., Jennifer Kingstone, 2nd Year Business student and member of 2007’s IBC Showcase winning team, Brad Gable from Sysco and Tony Reynolds from Cinevision.

Shwarzie award winners, Allure Networking |
This year, eight outstanding teams 'went for gold’—the Integrated Business Case Trophy. After deliberations by a panel of judges, Club Connection from Section 001 taught by Troy Dunning was the team named as the worthy recipient of the IBC top trophy.
The Schwarzie , a “People’s Choice” award, was presented to the Allure Networking team from Section 002 taught by Tim Kemp.
It was an exhilarating afternoon which celebrated the amazing accomplishments of the School of Business’ first-term, first-year students. Karen Stephens is the IBC program leader. “The Business Administration students worked incredibly hard all semester on developing their IBC business cases,” says Stephens, “Once again, we were awestruck by their final products and amazing presentations.”
“To quote Alec Lee, a long-time faculty member in the School of Business, 'the business world will be in good hands with these talented young people',” adds Stephens. “Congratulations to both teams and congratulations to the wonderful faculty and staff in the School of Business who, together, supported and coached these students in this unique journey."
