Camosun is the first stop for a Vietnamese tour of seven Canadian colleges, seeking "best practices" ideas for education to workplace transitions. Accompanied by five representatives from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the delegation from Vietnam includes 18 high-ranking post-secondary and government representatives.

The delegation will visit Camosun's two main campuses on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, after meeting with officials from BC's Ministry of Advanced Education on Tuesday, October 9.

"This is a very important delegation," explains Jim Paulson, international development officer for Camosun College. "If this evolves into a new funded project in Vietnam, Camosun is very well positioned to play a significant role. We certainly have the expertise to succeed."

The delegation will be at Camosun's Lansdowne campus Wednesday morning, to hear about the innovative partnership programs Camosun has set up with industry and local school districts. They will then bus to Interurban campus for lunch in the Culinary Arts centre, followed by a guided tour of Camosun's teaching facilities for trades and engineering technology.

With more than 600 international students enrolled from 40 different countries, Camosun has already earned a respected reputation in the field of international education. Camosun further established itself as a global leader in July 2007 when it entered a ground-breaking partnership with China-based Maple Leaf Educational Systems Ltd. which contracts Camosun to provide customized curriculum so that China can train thousands of needed Home Support Care Attendants.

Following the Camosun visit, the delegation will continue their tour to Malaspina University College, BCIT, Olds College, Bow Valley College, SAIT, Conestoga College and Niagara College.
