Camosun 2nd year marketing students raise $700 in one week!
October 18, 2007
Students in Marina Jaffey’s Advertising & Media course adopted the local Cops for Cancer and Tour de Rock charity events as one of this semester’s class assignments. Students worked together in teams to create an advertising plan within the framework of the Canadian Cancer Society to raise awareness and raise donations for this worthy cause.
Using advertising and communication techniques learned in the classroom they created posters which were displayed on campus to raise awareness and generate discussion:
Students then honed their sales promotion and public relation skills by organizing many fundraising activities held during the week of October 9th including: Cookies for Kids, Cops for Cancer Bracelets, Cookie Bandits, Candy for Kids, a Penny Drive and Shooting Hoops for Cancer in the basketball court. All activities combined raised a overwhelming $700 in one week!
A cheque will be presented to Craig Vanni, Manager of Revenue Development, with the Canadian Cancer Society on Thursday, October 18 at 1:30pm in the CBA Atrium at the Interurban campus.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated and donated.
