Two new degree majors offered
Marketing Communications Management & Human Resources Management and Leadership now available
October 31, 2007
Camosun is pleased to offer two new degree majors to provide more choices for new and current business students in areas of increased workforce need.
The new degree majors are Marketing Communications Management, and Human Resources Management and Leadership, and are offered through Camosun’s School of Business.
The two new degree majors complement a bachelor of business administration (BBA) degree program in accounting. The applied nature of the BBA majors provides students exposure to real world context and experience. All three business degree majors include co-op programs to ensure students have practical training in their chosen fields.
Students will be able to choose either full-time or part-time studies, to accommodate the many students who need to maintain employment while working on their degree.
"Our thriving, knowledge-based economy means there is intense demand in almost every industry for people trained in human resources and marketing communications," said Coell. "Camosun's commitment to providing students with relevant training for today's marketplace will help ensure British Columbia's competitiveness."
"New degrees give students more choice and prepare them for real needs in today's economy," said Coell. "It means students don't have to leave the province to study and it builds on our plan to expand our post-secondary system by 25,000 seats."
"We expect these new degree majors will appeal to mature, work force oriented students, human resource and marketing and communication professionals, university transfer students and university graduates," said the Dean of Camosun's School of Business, Richard Olesen.
"Camosun has taken a creative and innovative approach to developing new majors based on the needs of our community including industry, government and our graduates and students," said the President of Camosun College, Dr. Elizabeth Ashton. "We plan on welcoming students into the new degree majors this January."
