Camosun is giving local grade 10 girls the opportunity to try their hands at being an Electronics Engineering Technologist. During the 5th annual “Taste of Electronics” event, girls will spend the day soldering together and programming a flashing LED project to take home. The event is meant to take the mystery out of what it means to be an engineer and the cool high tech jobs available.Group of girls at the Taste of Electronics event in 2006.

"The future job prospects for technologists and engineers are extensive and there’s lots of room for females who have an interest in math and science," adds van de Vegte. "Technologists work in a variety of high tech areas including embedded microcontroller design, robotic systems and wireless communications."

The event takes place Thursday, November 22, from 8.45 am to 2.30 pm in Technology Centre room 204 at Interurban Campus.

Many thanks to Camosun’s sponsors for their generous contributions:Queale Electronics and the Foundation for the Educational Advancement ofTechnology (FEAT).
