Camosun College’s Most Promising Alumni Award is presented annually to alumni who graduated 10 years ago or less and have made outstanding contributions in their field and in their community. This year the award goes Scott Thomas. Scott completed two Camosun programs: Recreation Leadership and University Transfer studies. He was a member of the inaugural Chargers competitive volleyball program, holds a UVic Master of Education degree and is a tireless volunteer in areas of youth leadership, sports, and community fundraisers like the Terry Fox Run.
Scott’s past instructors and coaches describe him as a person who led by example and was a role model for younger players. A great communicator with his teammates, Scott was a positive influence with everyone he came in contact with. He shared his ideas and helped to build many of the pillars of the Chargers program that are seen today.
Scott’s fondest memory of his time at the College is the lifelong friendships and connections he made. As he pursues a career goal of becoming a principal, he encourages Camosun students and graduates to “enjoy every moment, and be confident in the many opportunities Camosun College offers.”
Scott lives in Victoria and is currently serving as Vice-Principal of Macaulay Elementary School. Scott is pictured here with his wife Shawna and 18 month-old son, Jacob.
