Chargers Alumnus named Canada West Athlete of the Week

November 27, 2007

Chargers Alumnus, forward Greg Wallis, the Simon Fraser Clan’s leading scorer in 2007-08, brought SFU back to .500, leading the way against the Manitoba Bisons (0-8) and Winnipeg Wesmen (4-4) over the weekend.

On Friday Wallis, a fourth-year forward out of Victoria, shot a lights out 8-for-11 against the Bisons for 22 points adding 12 rebounds in the Clan’s 67-62 win over Manitoba. In Saturday’s 82-73 victory over Winnipeg, Wallis was equally impressive, knotting his second straight double-double, by shooting 12-for-19 for 27 points while adding ten rebounds.

With those two performances, the Arts major moved to eighth in the conference, averaging over 18 points per game, while the Clan have bounced back from their slow 0-4 start to win five of their last six games and improve to 5-5 on the season.

Wallis played for the Chargers during 2004-06 before being recruited to SFU. He earned the British Columbia Colleges’ Athletic Association (BCCAA) Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Year title in 2004-05 and was named a 2005-06 BCCAA First Team All-Star.
