Dana Allan-BCCAA Women's Volleyball Athlete of the Week. The Camosun Chargers are pleased to announce that 5th year student-athlete Dana Allan has been named British Columbia Colleges' Athletic Association (BCCAA) Athlete of the Week for November 12-18.

The 5'9" left-side Victoria native began her competitive post-secondary career at the University of Victoria in 2003. Having earned numerous academic and leadership awards as a student-athlete at Camosun, Allan exemplifies the role of team leader both on and off the court.

Her performance this past weekend was an example of an all-around athlete playing at the highest level of excellence, dominating every game from every aspect.

On the weekend, Allan served a total of nine aces against opponents Selkirk College and College of the Rockies, placing her eighth in the aces category on the BCCAA league leaders list. Her serves throughout the weekend were powerful, pushing the opposition off their offense and she provided precision passing on serve receive and defense in both matches. Allan also collected an extraordinary 29 kills, 2 blocks and 22 digs. She is currently ranked sixth in the league for kills.

Chargers women's volleyball head coach Alison Hitesman was impressed with Allan's accomplishments this weekend. "Dana's performance this weekend led our young players to play at their highest level. We needed these wins and feel great about the success we've had early in the season. When we needed a big play, Dana provided it with ease and determination," reported Hitesman.

Going into week four of league competition, the Chargers are in seventh place with a record of 2 wins and 3 losses.

This weekend, the Chargers volleyball teams travel north to Prince George to play the College of New Caledonia Kodiaks on Friday, November 23 and the University of British Columbia Okanagan Lakers on Saturday, November 24.

These matches will conclude the first half of the 207-08 BCCAA league season.
