The Co-operative Education & Student Employment department is pleased to announce a photo contest to showcase its students applying their education in Image: Coop student working at a hotelthe workplace. Photos and accompanying information will highlight student work experiences and will be used to promote academic programs at Camosun College as well as offer the students the opportunity to share their work experiences with each other. Photographs will be used for promotional purposes by Camosun College and all entrants will be required to sign talent release forms.

Eligibility

To be eligible Camosun College students must be registered in a co-op or internship work term course any time between May 1st, 2007 through September 30th, 2007. Final awarding of prizes is contingent upon the winning applicant successfully completing their work term with a passing grade. Students interested in entering the contest who are unsure if they are eligible should contact the Co-op office to verify.

Photographs

Students may submit a maximum of three photos in digital or as prints. The photos Co-op student working as a radio announcershould show the student in a Co-op or Internship work environment. Each photo submission must include a brief description (50 words or less) explaining what you are doing in the photo. Digital photos should be of high quality (300 dpi minimum) to qualify for the contest. Digital photos should be submitted in JPEG format. Prints should be on standard 4x6 format.

Categories

  1. Student@Work Prize: $500 Tuition (approximate value of one work term tuition)
    As this contest is running across all co-op and internship programs offered in the Schools of Arts & Science, Business and Trades & Technology a main prize for each school will be awarded. The Student@Work prizes will be given out based on the finest representation of a co-op or internship student at work within their particular industry. The 1st prize winners for each school will receive $500, the approximate equivalent value to the co-op or internship work term tuition. Ladies and gentlemen, the Student@Work! prizes are for the best of the best in each school.
  2. Peoples’ Choice Prize: $250 Camosun College Book Store Gift Card
    In addition, all photo-projects will be put on display during CAMFest – the student welcome event hosted by Camosun College in September. Camosun College students will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite photo. The photo that receives the most votes will win the Peoples’ Choice Prize and the winner will receive a $250 Gift Card to Camosun College Book Store.Co-op student in the cockpit of a helicopter
  3. Fun, Funky & Fabulous Prize: $50 Camosun College Book Store Gift Card
    Finally, additional prizes will be awarded for photos that are fun and creative in the following ways:
    • technological innovation
    • environmental sustainability
    • creative business
    • amazing numbers
    • feats of engineering
    • spreading the word

One photo will be selected as a winner for each category above and the winners will each be awarded a $50 Gift Card to Camosun College Book Store.

Peoples’ Choice
$250 Camosun College Book Store Gift Card

Submission Deadline: August 15, 2007 at midnight

Judging

The contest will be judged by the Director of Co-operative Education and Student Employment and the Co-op and Internship Coordinators for the Schools of Arts & Science, Business and Trades & Technology. Winners will be announced on September 28, 2007. Winners will be contacted directly by phone and results posted on the Co-op website.
