With Guest Speaker: sports writer, Jim Taylor
Friday, September 28, 2007
Award-winning Canadian sports writer Jim Taylor headlines the Camosun College Chargers First Annual “Tip-Off” Dinner Fundraiser at 5:30pm, Friday, September 28 at Camosun’s Interurban Campus.
All funds raised will help support student-athletes in the Chargers men’s and women’s basketball programs.
A nationally syndicated sports columnist broadcaster and author of 11 books, Jim Taylor has been described as “one of Canada’s funniest writers.” In addition to his two column collections – Forgive Me My Press Passes and You Mean I Get Paid to do This? – Taylor’s published works include Goin’ Deep, with Matt Dunnigan; Man in Motion, with Rick Hansen; and Gretzky; the Authorized Pictorial Biography, with Wayne Gretzky.
Although Taylor’s subjects are mainly sports figures, he is able to make a great story from even the most common characters, admiring the heroes and hard-workers and cheerfully ridiculing the boors and braggarts.
Taylor is a member of the media division in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame and in 2000 received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Sport Media Canada.
Tickets for the event are $150 per person and include a pre-dinner reception sponsored by the Vancouver Island Brewery and Food for Thought catering and Jim Taylor’s all-star presentation.
The Camosun College Chargers men’s and women’s basketball teams would like to thank the many generous sponsors of this event: The Times Colonist, Vancouver Island Brewery, Food for Thought, Thrifty Foods, South VI Basketball Association, Pedersen’s Party Rental, Telus, and Robbins Parking.
Tickets are $150. Use the form (pdf) to order tickets today.
