Camosun College Recreation and Athletics is proud to present its third annual Warren Miller Ski Film Fundraiser Event, Thursday, January 25, 2007, 6pm, in Young 216 at the Lansdowne Campus.

Featuring this year’s Warren Miller smash ski flick “Off the Grid,” the annual event is a fundraiser to directly support new equipment for Camosun’s on-campus fitness centres.

Promoting health and wellness in the college community is the mandate of Camosun’s Recreation and Athletics department. The department is largely funded by student recreation fees.

Admission to the film ($12 for students, $15 for community) includes two-for-one lift ticket coupons to Mt. Washington and Whistler Blackcomb – offering attendees a tremendous savings on their next ski trip. Everyone is welcome.

This fundraising evening offers a chance for students and community members to get stoked, win prizes – including an autographed special edition Warren Miller ski bum shirt – help improve fitness centre equipment, and save big on hitting the slopes.

Warren Miller's Off the Grid exposes the undiscovered side of winter from Kashmir, India to Kicking Horse, Canada. Olympic 2006 medalist Toby Dawson and X-Games Gold Medalists Zach and Reggie Crist pack the notable cast in this adrenaline-filled documentary-style film that takes viewers out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary.

How does this film get Off the Grid? Skier Jaime Pierre sets a world-record by skiing off the edge of a 245-foot snow-covered cliff. Kevin Bramble and Monte Meier become the first adaptive skiers to tackle the remote, helicopter accessed backcountry of Alaska's Chugach Mountains. The World Snowball Fighting Championships in Hokkaido, Japan are showcased in an event so Off the Grid, that verbal explanation cannot do it justice.

Catch the powder, raise your pulse and support Camosun College while saving money, Thursday, January 25, 6pm, in Young 216 at Lansdowne Campus.

For tickets call: 250-370-3602 or drop by Camosun’s Recreation and Athletics department, Young 114, Lansdowne Campus. Tickets also available at the door.
