The competition at the Next Great Chef continues to heat up. The exciting prime-time documentary series is a third of the way through the second season to discover Canada’s next great chef! Elimination rounds continue but BC, Alberta and Ontario have fought their way to the second round. Tonight sees Prince Edward Island facing off against Saskatchewan. Be sure to catch the action every Friday night at 8pm.
The Next Great Chef is filmed in Victoria, with several segments filmed at Camosun College’s Helmut Huber Culinary Arts Centre.
“We’re very pleased to help support the show,” says Erik Andersen, Chair of the Culinary Arts Department and a chef with over 30 years experience. “It’s so rewarding to see young talent in action. These are exactly the kinds of students that Camosun prepares for a rewarding career in the industry.”
Andersen cites the example of Camosun College Culinary Arts graduate Daniel Craig, who won gold at the prestigious Jeunes Commis Rotisseurs world cooking competition this fall in Adelaide, Australia. “These are the young greats of the cooking world,” says Andersen, “but they are real people with real stories, which the show captures very well.”
Watch The Next Great Chef
Last year, season one of The Next Great Chef aired as a half-hour series, but due to popular demand was expanded to a one-hour format for season two. Watch the show at 8 pm, January 5 on local CH and Global television stations as 10 Canadian Junior Provincial champions compete in the ultimate battle of chef against chef. Over four rounds, the young chefs will be competing against each other until only one is left standing in the kitchen!
