Unlocking the secrets of the tropical rainforests

Tropical rainforests hold the secrets to fighting human disease. No one understands these secrets better than the indigenous shamans—medicine men and women—who have developed boundless knowledge on healing plants. But, like the rainforests themselves, these indigenous experts are fast disappearing.
Camosun College is pleased to present renowned biodiversity expert, Harvard professor, author and President of the Amazon Conservation Team Dr. Mark Plotkin on May 24 at the Royal Theatre. Plotkin has spent much of the past 20 years working in with the people of Central and South America to learn more about healing plants.
Hailed by Time Magazine as an environmental “Hero for the Planet,” Plotkin offers his insights and research on biocultural conservation - how we can protect biodiversity, strengthen health systems and preserve irreplaceable cultures.
Tickets are $25 for adults or $15 for students plus surcharge. Tickets are available from the McPherson Playhouse. Call 250–386–6121 to order your tickets!
