Countdown to Bike to Work Week

In anticipation of BTWW 2019, we're celebrating Camosun's cycling champions!

Naji Yazdi (Co-captain, Interurban Mega Cyclepaths)

Naji is a superstar cyclist and has lead BTWW teams for the past few years with enthusiasm, energy and fun.

Why do you love to bike to work?

Relocating to Victoria, I truly enjoy cycling here especially cycling on the Galloping Goose! Back home, in Tehran, the culture of cycling is a little different. Cycling culture in Canada, and specifically in Victoria, I would say is more promoted, encouraged and supported. The urban infrastructure and events like BTWW pump up and enhance the culture of cycling as a positive activity for self wellbeing as well as the positive impacts on the environment. I enjoyed having my son, Max, on the back of my bike while biking to work at Camosun. He is eight now and has his own bike. I am so pleased that now I can enjoy the company of my daughter, Melody, on the back of my bike.

Why do you love to bike to work?

I absolutely love biking to Camosun. I recently moved to the Interurban Campus and now get to start and end my day on the Galloping Goose with other likeminded people. I clock 20km a day, which combines transportation with daily activity. Also, I am part of a community! It fills my lungs with fresh air and my spirit with joy.
